Math Marvels evaluate expressions involving whole-number exponents. They work with expressions using variables, including learning the mathematical terms to identify parts of expressions, and they explore equivalent expressions. Math Marvels develop an understanding of solving an equation as a process of answering a question and work on modeling, writing, and using substitution to solve equations. They solve problems using algebraic equations in the forms × + p = q and px = q. They see that in an inequality, a variable can represent infinitely many solutions, and they learn to graph those solutions. Math Marvels also analyze two-variable relationships using graphs and tables. Through their learning in the Expressions, Equations, and Inequalities domain, Math Marvels:
- Numerical Expressions with Exponents
- Algebraic Expressions
- Equivalent Expressions
- Understand Solutions to Equations
- Solve Equations
- Solving Inequalities
- Dependent and Independent Variable
