ABOUT US

Welcome to Elementary School Math where Math Marvels develop a comprehensive understanding of fundamental mathematical concepts. The math kids learn here will shape their experience in middle school where math becomes abstract. Math Marvels in grades 3-5 explore patterns and algebraic thinking, number operations with whole numbers, decimals, and fractions. They also learn measurement and data, and geometry. Instruction emphasizes problem-solving, reasoning, and the application of mathematical practices to real-world situations, ensuring students build a solid foundation for advanced mathematical learning.

Welcome to Middle School Math where Math Marvels are actively involved in learning sound mathematical thinking and developing math reasoning. The Middle School Curriculum is broken down into five categories: Number Sense, Ratios and Proportional Reasoning, Algebra, Data and Statistics and Geometry. Math Marvels investigate problems and value understanding the process of algorithms as much as finding the solution. Rather than memorizing facts, Math Marvels learn how and when to apply mathematics to different problems. Beginning with a review of numbers and operations, Math Marvels become fluent with number computations with rational numbers (fractions, decimals) as well as positive and negative numbers. 8th grade Math Marvels broaden their understanding of algebra by studying linear relationships and functions, preparing them for High School Algebra .

Welcome to High School Math where Math Marvels take three courses, Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry. These rigorous courses are designed to prepare students for end of year, college readiness exams such as the NYS Regents exam. Videos are being created for Alg II and Geometry.

“The world needs mathematicians who are thinkers, not robots. And I’m here to educate, empower and help you excel. Anyone can develop a mathematical mindset, anyone can become a Math Marvel”

As a teacher Math Mini-Lesson has proven to be quite helpful in my everyday needs as a math teacher. The passing guide along with the lessons she has created enable me more time to focus on differentiation. Her CFU’s are a great resource for me to see we’re my students needs support in real time. Her videos are very detailed and useful in guiding student prior to teacher facilitating a lesson or as an intervention tool for re-teaching. Math Mini-Lesson is a fantastic investment!

What Parents are Saying

“Sarah has really helped me and my daughter understand how to get the conceptual parts of fourth grade math. Being a educator myself and not being great at teaching math but being able to reach out to her and ask questions and have her address it on a platform where everybody can understand has been really helpful. “

- Rashana G

“Sarah’s an amazing teacher and eductor and she always makes sure her students understand. Seeing her in action I’m able to recognize how amazing she is at teaching. She really understands students and how they think. And she really thinks about the easiest and simplest way to get kids to think about how to do the problem and why they do it that way. And I think that’s what sticks with kids, when they understand why they use a certain strategy that way.”

- Stephanie

“This amazing human who is known to most as Ms. Fuentes has taken me under her wing from my first year teaching to now! She has gone beyond the call of duty during this quarantine to create videos and a FB group to help students, teachers, and parents with math from elementary through middle school! She’s created this platform for anyone that needs help! She has taught me to understand numbers in a new way that allowed me to be a better educator and teacher mom. She’s the best math teacher in NYC!”
